This microlot comes from Nigist Girmachew’s three-hectare farm in the renowned highlands of Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia. At 2,200 metres above sea level, she grows traditional heirloom varietals under the shade of enset trees* using fully natural methods—no chemical fertilisers or pesticides. The high elevation and rich soils produce a classic Yirgacheffe profile with vibrant complexity and exceptional clarity.
Harvested by hand at peak ripeness and processed naturally on raised beds for 12–15 days, Nigist’s coffee reflects her dedication to quality. As a woman farmer, she receives premium prices through a woman-led exporter, supporting greater financial stability while delivering one of the region’s most characterful natural-processed microlots. A beautiful expression of Yirgacheffe terroir and careful craftsmanship.
In the cup we are first greeted by distinct Earl Grey tea notes followed by red berries and finally peach as the coffee cooled.
