Burundi Rwiri Natural
Yagikawa Cooperative was formed in 2008 with main activity of collecting cherries from members for forwarding to coffee washing stations in order to avoid cases of theft. Rwiri, situated near the commune of Matongo, is one of the washing stations operated by the cooperative and currently services 2,339 smallholder farmers from the surrounding area.
Rwiri sits at 1,750m above sea level and provides access to some of the higher elevation farms in the area. Rwiri lies in the province of Kayanza, an area known for producing coffee of high quality due to its high altitude, and ideal climate. Most farmers have Bourbon varietals which also help them achieve great results.
This particular coffee features vivid fruit complexity with clean and sweet acidity. Raspberry, red grape and pear notes supported by good levels of florals in the aroma make this a real treat!
