Brewing With The V60
Share
The V60 is a popular way to enjoy filter brewed coffee and is quite simple to use. It's name derives from it's conical V shape which has an internal angle of 60°. It was designed to reproduce the flavour of cloth drip coffee, popularised from the 18th century in Europe, while using a paper filter.

Our Standard Recipe
15g coffee, 240g water, 97°C
Brew Method
-
Heat water to 97°C (you will need 240g or 240ml for this recipe)
- Weigh 15g of coffee beans and grind to a medium coarse setting
- Prepare the scale, V60 Dripper, V60 Server and V60 Filter Paper for use (place them on top of each other with the filter paper inside the Dripper)
- Rinse the filter paper using the water you heated in step 1 above
- Place the freshly ground coffee from step 2 above inside the rinsed filter paper, ensuring an even distribution
- Start the timer and pour 50g of hot water on top of the ground coffee. Pour in a circular motion and ensure the water is distributed evenly with no dry grounds remaining
- Wait 30s before resuming to pour more hot water onto the coffee. Start at the centre and pour in a circular motion while working your way outwards
- Once the scale shows you have poured 200g of water onto the coffee bring the water to the centre and finish pouring once the scale shows you have reached 240g
- Total brew time should be around 2m 15s
Notes:
- The brew ratio used in this recipe is 1:16 or 16g of water for every gram of coffee
- To make a larger or smaller portion, simply multiply the amount of coffee by 16 to derive the amount of water needed
